Phase One, Two, Three Delivered
Phase One at The Rise is near completion as the Fred Couples Signature Golf Course is now open and there are 17 acres of vineyards which will had their first harvest in 2008. The Rise’s first four neighbourhoods are nearly sold out, while some of the best view sites remain in the exclusive Watermark neighbourhood.
Homes at The Rise feature a Tuscan/Mediterranean theme and offer a variety of views including lake, vineyard and city views or a combination of all three. Home sites start at $249,900 and homes start at $739,999.
The Golf Club at The Rise, a Fred Couples Signature Golf Course
The Fred Couples Signature Golf Course, named The Golf Club at The Rise, has been open for the season since April and it is generating rave reviews. Recently, Score Golf magazine named The Golf Club at The Rise a nominee for its 2009 Best New Golf Course in Canada Award. The course is situated on a ridge overlooking the north and south arms of Okanagan Lake. Twelve of the 18 holes feature dramatic lake views with the remainder integrated into the rugged natural topography of Vernon’s highlands. Recently, the course was named by the prestigious Robb Report as one of top new resort courses in the world.
The championship course was designed by Couples/Bates Design, an affiliation between PGA Tour Pro Fred Couples and award-winning golf course architect Gene Bates. It was built by BMR Golf, whose B.C. credits include the award-winning Greywolf at Panorama Mountain Resort, The Dunes in Kamloops and The Harvest Club in Kelowna.
Vineyards and Winery
The Rise vineyards have had their first harvest and while plans for a winery are currently on hold, the resort has 17 acres of vineyard with Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and Riesling vines. The first harvest last year produced a quality of grape that has created rave reviews from the winemaker.
With the expansion of the vineyards and winery and this year’s opening of the Fred Couples Signature Golf Course, The Rise is an attractive resort community for visitors and home buyers looking in the Okanagan Valley.
Developer
The Okanagan Hills Development Corporation (OHDC) is developing The Rise. OHDC is owned by Leona Snider, president and CEO. Leona has owned the property since December of 1988 and OHDC has worked extensively with the City of Vernon and environmental and planning consultants to create a development plan for this very unique resort community.
According to independent consultants, EBA Engineering, The Rise undertook the most extensive and detailed environmental study in the Okanagan Valley at the time before starting its development in 2005. One third of the land will be developed, with one third being preserved and one third being dedicated to the golf course.
