Osoyoos resort gets OK

A $68-million luxury condominium resort will rise on the lakefront site formerly occupied by a fruit packinghouse in Osoyoos.

The four-storey 153-suite Watermark Beach Resort received municipal approval this week and will start marketing this summer for completion in a couple of years.

Prices start in the low $200,000s and are marketed as whole-ownership strata homes that can be put in a rental pool when not in use.

The packinghouse operated on the downtown Lake Osoyoos site from 1925-88 and was demolished in 2002.

Besides the actual units, the Watermark will feature stores along a promenade, restaurant with patio, wine bar, health club and spa, beach, outdoor pool, a convention centre and shoreline park and pathway.
