The Rise on radar of Robb Report The Robb Report - the U.S. magazine that chronicles the luxury lifestyle -- has recognized The Rise near Vernon as one of the top new private golf courses in the world. The September issue features a photo of 1992 Masters champion Fred Couples putting at The Rise (it's a Fred Couples Signature course) and a page of copy. "The views are the signature," Couples is quoted in the magazine, referring to the course's location 1,000 feet above Okanagan Lake. "First Naramata was covered by the New York Times and now The Robb Report includes The Rise as a top new private course," says Scott Henderson of dHz Media, which does publicity for The Rise. "Do we need more proof that the world is discovering the Okanagan?" The Rise is only selling about 500 memberships for $25,000, including a private lesson with Couples, plus $1,800 in annual fees. The golf course will be ready for play next year. The 735-acre site is also being developed as a $1-billion golf resort with 1,200 homes, a hotel and winery. Other courses included in The Robb Report roundup include Champions Club in Moyvalley, Ireland: The Creek, a Ritz-Carlton resort near Greensboro, Ga.; the Greg Norman-designed Cornerstone in Telluride, Colo.; Tom Weiskopf's Club at Spanish Peaks near Yellowstone National Park; and the Tom Fazio Course at Pronghorn outside Bend, Ore.
