Fairmont Hot Springs Resort Media Backgrounder The Lodge at Fairmont Hot Springs has 137 suites and a 300 person conference centre. FHS has 700 acres of existing recreational space (golf, ski, spa) and currently has a resort community of 1,000 homes, townhomes and villas. The resort community has several restaurants and lounges including the Mountainside Clubhouse, the Mountain Flowers Dining Room, Bear's Paw Lounge, Dapper’s Landing and Brewer’s Market, which are close to the natural mineral hot springs and 310-site RV park. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort is developing an additional land for a variety of housing options from single family estate home sites, townhomes, and hotel condominiums. FHS is also evaluating enhancement options for the existing golf courses. The revitalized Fairmont Hot Springs Resort will feature a new resort/retail village with luxury hotel condominiums, enhanced spa and wellness centre with new designer hot springs pools, and more dining and shopping options. The expansion will be phased in over the next 20 years. Fairmont Hot Springs has been a retreat for thousands of years, long before European explorers came upon springs in the early 1800s. For centuries, the Ktunaxa native people have visited the ‘land of smoking waters’ to soak up the curative powers of the natural mineral hot springs. Now an international tourist destination, people come from all over the world to refresh, to heal and to replenish at Fairmont Hot Springs. The Columbia Valley ecosystem is western Canada’s largest contiguous natural wetland and is home to more big game species than anywhere on the continent. The wetlands are now protected by an intergovernmental treaty. This provides for incredible recreational opportunities including wildlife watching, canoeing and kayaking. | |
