Mid Island News in Brief; Hopes up for Long Beach airport Long Beach Airport’s improvement needs have found attention in Ottawa since Marine Drive Properties CEO Elke Loof-Koehler invited Federal Minister of Natural Resources, Honorable Gary Lynn to visit their new development, Wyndansea. He attempted to fly in for the visit, but ended up driving from his Sidney home, stating issues of safety and reliability were the reasons he stayed on the ground. Local leaders are seeking funds from the $33-billion infrastructure program, the Building Canada Plan. With $1 billion available for B.C. they are working on a private/public partnership for airport improvements. The airport has no lighting, passenger facilities, has limited utilities and deteriorating runways and taxiways.
