Calgary four-hour drive from Fairmont Hot Springs The following is some information about the Fairmont Hot Springs area: ■ Location: Fairmont Hot Springs is in the Columbia River Valley of southeastern B.C., framed by the Rocky Mountains to the east and the Purcell Mountains to the west. It is located at an elevation of 810 metres (2,661 feet) at the airport. ■ Access: Take the Trans-Canada highway west from Calgary and Highway93 south through Kootenay National Park into the Columbia Valley. Driving time to Fairmont Hot Springs is about four hours. The Cranbrook Airport is an hour south of Fairmont Hot Springs and has daily flights to and from Calgary. The Fairmont Airport has a 6,000- foot runway that handles private and charter aircraft. ■ Area attractions: Fairmont Hot Springs Resort is the major commercial development in the area and includes a lodge, convention facilities, mineral hot spring pool complex, spa, and 300-site campground. Hiking trails lead to several historic bathhouses on a hillside above the resort while other trails descend a valley to the lower hot springs with its waterfalls, pools and intricate mineral formations. The family-friendly Fairmont ski area is located a short drive up the mountainside from the resort and has 304 metres (1,000 feet) of vertical drop on a variety of trails services by a triple chair and a platter lift. The ski area also has a daylodge with cafeteria, ski school, and all skiing lift tickets include free same day access to the hot pools complex. Fairmont Hot Springs is home to three golf courses withv ery different personalities. The Mountainside Golf Course is located adjacent to the resort and has a classic mountain style witho ne of the most daunting holes in Western Canada, the 600-yard 4th hole that has been dubbed the Fairmonster. The Riverside Golf Course lies alongside the winding Columbia River with water coming into play on many holes. On one memorable hole, golfers have to hit over the Columbia River not once, but twice, with their tee shot. The third Fairmont golf course is the Creekside Course, a nine-hole Par 3 course that has a variety of challenges that are perfect for working on your game. Another nine-hole Par 3 course is Coy’s Dutch Creek Ranch a short drive south of Fairmont Hot Springs at Columere Park. For additional information regarding the project, click on the logo:
