Rooms with lots of views at The Rise

Views of Okanagan Lake, vineyards and mountains aren't all The Rise is offering at its new home site. A sense of community is also being developed.
 
"This is a fantastic place to live life," said Leona Snider, president and CEO of The Rise. "You're going to know your neighbours and really have a sense of belonging."

The new neighbourhood is called Belago. According to The Rise, loosely translated Belago means 'beautiful lake view'.

Vineyards are also part of the 18 home sites among the growing grapes.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are passionate about wine to be part of a growing community that feels the same way," added Snider. "Home owners at Belago will feel as though they own the vineyard as it is right in their backyard."

The vineyard is expanding to 17 acres this summer. The Cellars at The Rise is the name for the family-run winery.

Each home site offers views with prices starting at $399,900. The large lots allow for a backyard.

"I think we're going to draw both families and couples here. With these lots we're allowing fences. It's enough room for an infinity-edged pool or to bring your dog."

Snider said Vernon is a hidden gem and hopes buyers will come and discover it. She noted Rise homeowners are also a boon for the city.

"They're great supporters of our economy while taking very little. They pay their taxes and don't drive up and down the roads every day."

Buyers can reserve a vineyard homesite at the Grand Opening of Belago to be held at The Rise in August.

"You're whole experience here is getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city."

Design details for the winery will be announced this year with construction scheduled to be completed in 2009.
