Serenade raises $30,000 for NONA

A gala evening has supported some special children. Last Saturday’s Moonlight Serenade at The Rise raised $30,000 for the North Okanagan Neurological Association, which provides programs to more than 400 children a year.

“We’re so pleased with how The Rise and the Okanagan community have seized this opportunity to improve the lives of children with special needs in the Okanagan,” said Helen Armstrong, executive director of NONA’s child development centre.

The third annual gala was held in the Watermark neighbourhood at The Rise and kicked off with a champagne reception with music from local classical guitarist Manfred Harter, followed by a three-course dinner, prepared by Vernon’s Gourmet to Go.

After the meal, a live and silent auction was hosted by local auctioneer Rod Burnett.

Following the auction, guests were entertained by The Timebenders.

“We are very excited with the results of our Moonlight Serenade charity gala and how it will help NONA to continue helping families throughout the Okanagan,” said Leona Snider, president and chief executive officer of The Rise.

“The business community and home owners really pulled together to serve the Vernon community.”
