Moonlight Serenade raises $30,000 for NONA Some fast talking and a little bit of silence helped raise $30,000 for the North Okanagan Neurological Association on Saturday. Live and silent auctions brought in most of the funds at the third annual Moonlight Serenade charity gala at The Rise. "We're so pleased with how The Rise and the Okanagan community have seized this opportunity to improve the lives of children with special needs in the Okanagan," said Helen Armstrong, executive director of NONA's Child Development Centre. NONA provides specialized programs, such as music therapy and physio-occupational therapy, to more than 400 children a year in the North Okanagan. Its mission is to strengthen the abilities of children with special needs and enhance opportunities for them to participate in their community. "We are very excited with the results . . . and how it will help NONA to continue helping families throughout the Okanagan," said Rise CEO Leona Snider. "The business community and homeowners really pulled together to serve the Vernon community." For more information about NONA, go online to www.nona-cdc.com.
